This is interesting, we must say that the situation in Catalonia is different, this currency has a revolutionary essence, what you say "impossible to pay anything, without spending thousands of dollars in fees, and it is impossible to actually fit all of the monetary transactions in a single blockchain "there is already a Lighting Network solution.
I understand that you defend this coin for your ideals, but to speak like that of bitcoin, despising it makes me think about why you are here.
I for sure agree that the LN would solve a lot of the current problems Bitcoin have, but again, its not actually up yet, and even when its up, I seriously doubt that the LN will be able to handle 7 billion users and 400 million transactions a day. But if LN solves all problems, you still have the issue with the limited supply. The value of 1 satoshi might end up being worth more than 100 EUR, even 1000 EUR. And then you need an alternative to make it possible to make 0.25 EUR cent payments or even 0.001 EUR cent payments.
Sure, why not just use Monero, Dash etc? No matter how much all of us here believe in crypto coins value as a currency, most people think its something dodgy, dangerous, illegal etc. You can thank Silk Road and various goverment officials and bank employees for that. It will for sure take some convincing of people before any crypto coin will become as success. And that is way easier with a coin like the Croat. Not saying that thousands of local coins is the way to go. Just saying this local coin might actually do something good for the entire crypto, as the chance of it being widely accepted by local business owners in Catalonia is pretty good.
Also, you can ask yourself how many other altcoins can actually be used as payment at real businesses? Most of the coins cannot be used for anything other than speculative purposes, while this one has more and more small business owners accepting it.
