Depending on situations because Im an active day trader coins to be trade would depend on my decision if i do see a good entry point then thats the time i do decide to make trades.Usually i do have a max 4-5 coins on a single day. Im doing both hodler and an active trader which i do engage both things because i can able to handle which would possibly maximize possible profits if you did it right.
As also in my opinion, doing both is very good choice rather than only day trade or only holding.
The combination between long term or short term can give us advantages from both side. For example if we get profit short term then just sell it but if not, we can still hold it for long term. But just make sure the coin has potential to grow.
