It will drop more over the next 1-2 years I think. The generation 2 Playstation VR + Camera + VR Worlds (Game) you can get for 325 now on Amazon in Germany. Not sure what the changes to generation 1 are, but I think 325 is quite a good price now and I think it will drop under 300 this year hopefully.
Same will probably happen with Occulus Rift, at least to somewhere between 350-400.

For crypto people, its not expensive at all, they can even get much more than that from bounty.

That's true but for VR to become mainstream the average guy must be able to afford some VR device.

You are right about the price. Current vr projects problem is not price. Cables and everything. Also, content is very limited but it is getting more content every day.

Nice to compare the situation with smartphones that cost $800 and many people will buy it. There is of cause the missing content and in general the missing advantage.
No status symbol in public and no famous content that gets promoted. When I hat the first VR glasses on head I was surprised about the quality but until now I see no reason to buy one.
