There was a time when a game called Second Life did just that. If a platform can pivot it to a different and commercially viable virtual reality space like a marketplace, I think businesses will be willing to sign-up. What if Amazon goes 3D!!
There are many people ready to buy virtual stuff, and different ingame purchases (e.g. on the Steam platform ) constitute the lion part of any webgame profit nowadays.
