Mostly non-popular and non-reputed exchanges give fake news of getting hacked and still the people's money. I think everyone here should be aware of such scams and only use some genuine and reputed exchanges like bittrex, binance etc. This will help you in being away from some unwanted losses and frauds which are not worthy of losing money. I also think that you should check if the above news is fake or real as it looks fishy to me.
