Pada dasarnya semua kita pernah belajar bahasa inggris dengan menggunakan rumus Tenses. Rumus Tenses itu terbagi dalam tiga golongan diantaranya : Present, Past, Future.

1. Present itu ada 4

A. Present Tense
Rumus Present Tense

Positif        (+)  : S + V1 (s/es) + O/C
Negatif      (-)  : S + Do/Does + Not + V1 + O/C
Introgative (?)  : Do/Does + S + V1 + O/C + ?

Present tense memiliki 3 fungsi utama yaitu:

• Happen in the present (terjadi di masa sekarang)
• Habitual Action (kebiasaan)
• General Truth (fakta)

Contoh
(+) She opens the door / (+) Dia membuka pintu
(-) She does not open the door / (-) Dia tidak membuka pintu
(?) Does She open the door? / (?) Apakah dia membuka pintu?

B. Present Continuous tense
Rumus Present Continuous Tense

Positif        (+)  : S + Tobe (is, am, are) + Ving + O/C
Negatif      (- )  : S + Tobe (is, am, are) + Not + Ving + O/C
Introgative (?)  : Tobe (is, am, are) + S + Ving + O/C + ?

Present Continuous tense merupakan bentuk kata kerja yang berfungsi untuk menyatakan suatu pekerjaan atau tindakan yang sedang berlangsung.
Contoh :
(+) They are playing football now / (+) Mereka sedang bermain bola sekarang
(-) They are not playing football now / (-) Mereka sedang tidak bermain bola sekarang
(?) Are they playing football now? / (?) Apakah mereka sedang bermain bola sekarang?

C. Present perfect tense
Rumus Present Perfect Tense

Positif        (+)  : S + Have/Has + V3 + O/C
Negatif      (- )  : S + Have/Has + Not + V3 + O/C
Introgative (?)  : Have/Has + S + V3 + O/C + ?

Present perfect tense merupakan bentuk kata kerja yang berfungsi untuk menyatakan suatu pekerjaan atau tindakan yang telah selesai dikerjakan namun masih berkaitan dengan masa sekarang.
Contoh :
(+) I have finished my homework / (+) Aku sudah mengerjakan PR
(- ) I have not finished my homework / (-) Aku belum mengerjakan PR
(?) Have you finished your homework? / (?) Apakah kamu sudah mengerjakan PR?

D. Present perfect continuous tense
Rumus Present Perfect Continuous Tense

Positif        (+)  : S + Have/Has + Been + Ving + O/C
Negatif      (- )  : S + Have/Has + Not + Been + Ving + O/C
Introgative (?)  : Have/Has + S + Been + Ving + O/C + ?

Present perfect continuous tense merupakan bentuk kata kerja yang berfungsi untuk menyatakan suatu pekerjaan atau tindakan yang telah terjadi namun masih ia lakukan atau sedang ia lakukan sekarang.
Contoh :
(+) We have been painting this wall since 2 hours ago / (+) Kita sudah melukis tembok ini sejak 2 jam lalu
(- ) We have not been painting this wall since 2 hours ago / (-) Kita belum melukis tembok ini sejak 2 jam lalu
(?) Have we been painting this wall since 2 hours ago? / (?) Apakah kita sudah melukis tembok ini sejak 2 jam lalu?

2. Past itu ada 4

A. Past Tense
Rumus Past Tense

Positif        (+)  : S + V2 + O/C
Negatif      (- )  : S + Did + Not + V1 + O/C
Introgative (?)  : Did + S + V2 + O/C + ?

B. Past Continuous Tense

Negatif      (- )  : S + Tobe (was/were) + Not + Ving + O/C

C. Past Perfect Tense

Negatif      (- )  : S + Have/Has + Not + V3 + O/C

D. Past Perfect Continuous Tense
