To my knowledge, Cryptolator did not fund any coins himself.....
He may have done what many maker did/do, is to load the coin upon arrival to it's owner and the purchaser would have needed to pay for this.
I'm sure there are others that were around when he released these coins and could provide some better insight.
I imagine if you do some digging on the old sales threads that he made, maybe find some useful information.
