Maybe in the future, but for me bitcoin will remain as the king of cryptocurrency for a long time. You can see that the market cap dominance is going up steadily, even though the altcoins are getting more and more popular than before. People are realizing that Bitcoin is a "safe bet" and there are too many altcoins that the chance of picking "the one" is very low. 2017 was a great year for altcoins, but that's it in my opinion.

Not to mention that bitcoin's security is the GOLD STANDARD in crypto. There may be other coins faster and cheaper than bitcoin, but usually they pay a high price in security to achieve such speed / low transaction fees
