But, unless the mainstream will be able to feel comfortable with using the tech, there will be no mass adoption and this beautiful technology will go to waste in the hands of speculative traders and scammers.

In general, I think the two are moving in a parallel manner. When Bitcoin advances, the blockchain technology is also advancing. And when blockchain is appreciated by people or by companies, they also come to appreciate the beauty and advantages of Bitcoin. To a significant extent, Bitcoin is carrying the name of blockchain technology and when we talk of blockchain as a new radical innovation, we cannot totally put aside Bitcoin from the picture. Bitcoin was the one that introduced the blockchain technology to the world. There is no way Bitcoin will fade away from its side.
