You see a lot of work and news because first many ICOs are choosing ethereum which can pump up the value and put ethereum into position to be one of the widely used crypto. If you switch there good luck, I don't see ethereum dumping hard in near future as so far project looks bright. Ethereum is not the only project with good development - you should have this in mind, but it has a lot of supporters and maybe it's community might be in 2nd place if we say btc is 1st in terms of how many people are invaded. But it cerntanly is not the only project in the field of dApps and smart contracts, just first one to be adopted by many.
