May I ask if you had Armory itself installed by the win exe setup routine in the default installation path as I suspect?

Anyway, fair for fair -in your very case path wise- you would have scored the same result by modifying the part under the desktop link to Armory which reads (right click link and then click on Properties):
DriveLetter:\PathToArmoryInstallDir\ArmoryQt.exe
into
DriveLetter:\PathToArmoryInstallDir\ArmoryQt.exe --satoshi-datadir="d:\pathtoyouractualbitcoindir\Data"
(brackets required)

Just another perspective of the very same approach suggested by Aura, who should be thanked as well

It is just an asset of mine to avoid software specific extra arguments whenever it is possible.
