Also, many people out there are still using 9.7 version miner 'cause it works with older gpus, I'm sure I'm not alone when saying this, but please could you also update that version of the miner as well? It would be very much appreciated if the old HD 5970s and 6990s could keep on hashing XMR even after the PoW change. All the best to you.
Agreed!
Claymore v9.7 is the only version that still works with VLIW GPUs like Radeon 5770. xmr-stak/xmrig-amd don't work with them...
Someone start us a petition so Claymore puts the old Cayman/Terascale binaries back in at the minimum...
Currently have a dual core rig running a 1GB Sapphire HD 6950 and a 2GB Asus R9 270X. It would be a shame if that 6950 became obsolete before it hashed its last hash... If we could somehow get both the older binaries AND Cryptonight-lite support in the same program Id be in heaven.
You can always use sgminer.
Do you have any info that someone'll update it for changed algo?
Nothing from Claymore so far, but I reached out to fireice, the dev of stak-xmr miner, since that is the only miner aside from claymore that somewhat supports hd 6990s, but the problem is, the memory detection doesn't work, so the cards do only about 40% of total hashpower, (here's the link
https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/issues/472) but there is a solution on the horizont that could be integrated in the next release after PoW change that will make the old cards supported fully, but it required building and testing the miner from scratch with the proposed PR, and I'm a total noob when it comes to github, so if somneone could help out, that would be amazing! You'd need to compile the miner with this PR
https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/pull/624I'll be trying tonight, but again I'm a total noob and can't guarantee shit, would be nice if there was someone to just build the binaries... So that's the progress so far. Also I made a post here
https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/83vujq/xmr_mining_community_call_to_miner_devs_to/ so contribute what you can there.
