I believe in Linux over Microsoft because Linux is non-profit. However, both OS's are centralized, so don't fool yourself.

Linux's Ubuntu are good for creating cold wallets tho . You can't boot windows cleanly from a USB, but you can certainly boot Linux from a USB!!
