As you may know, on Tuesday, October 24th at 1:20 am GMT approximately, the Bitcoin network experienced another fork in the Bitcoin blockchain, creating a new digital asset called Bitcoin Gold (BTG).
As a result, anyone owning Bitcoin at the moment of the fork received an identical amount of Bitcoin Gold. So if you had Bitcoin at Xapo at the time of the fork, you received an equivalent amount, which is visible in your created Bitcoin Gold pocket.Starting March 14th, your BTG Pocket will be enabled and you'll be able to withdraw your entire Bitcoin Gold balance to an external Bitcoin Gold address. Xapo may eventually offer the option to convert your BTG into BTC, which shall be available or not, at the sole discretion of Xapo, based upon market conditions. In case conversion is not available, your only option will be to withdraw your BTG to an external BTG address. You will only be able to withdraw the total amount of your BTG balance within a limited amount of time, starting March 14th until a deadline of June 14th, at 23:00 GMT, after which a mandatory conversion process will take place according to the information that is already available at our FAQ section.
