(Didn't try it myself, I only run three cards per MB)

We use powered risers, and also swapped those out. Never tried the EVGA Power Boost, but we did try running them all at low settings which should have eliminated any chance of it being a power issue. Yeah, Cryptobadger is an excellent site. Been there many times.
