Cryptoworld is so young so it is hardly can be told right now whether all alt coins are scam or not. Personally, I take any project announced as a betting or gambling network with a grain of salt.
Actually, at any point of ICO a team may decide to abort it and run away with the money so it is really only up to them.

I do wonder why mention betting or gambling? Why do you think the notion of betting or gambling make it more likely for it to be a scam?
I'm asking since we released dueltoken (https://icoholder.com/en/dueltoken-io-20170) and would like to hear your thoughts on that. Although we are not aiming for a 'casino' kind of betting. We actually believe (and noticed from experience) that betting a small amount in any game between friends makes a game much more fun (ever played poker with no stake?).

As for me, the first feature of a possible skam is the promising of guaranteed returns. I have seen lots of betting or gambling ICO going down.
The most recent example is this game failed to collect the prize fund.
Another example of not going well lottery ICO.
Here is a betting ICO - the ANN tread. Its tread has got an amazing number of pages - 3! - since the last December. Why does anyone have no interest in it?
I guess you see my point
