The problem is that, at some point, most cryptocurrencies are going to compete with Bitcoin for electricity. I also have seen some respectful analyst to say that it is possible to create ASICs to mine coins that could only be mined by GPUs. If that statement is correct, such cryptocurrencies might have a hard time in the future.
