Compiled it with cuda9 as well, there is no difference whatsoever on some hundred of 1070, 1070Ti and 1080Ti

Good deal. Any chance you have both cuda8 and cuda9 on the same machine at the same time? I suspect it is 2 different machines or one machine that you upgraded. Can you share the process for upgrading to cuda9?
