I believe what happen in the near future is bitcoin will no longer need to use a bitcoin address and lightning network will be implemented and then the improvement of it is having a second layer blockchain that allow decentralized exchanges of two different coins like LTC and BTC. Miners  get rewards like btc by verifying every blocks on second layer blockchain and  it has a feature that asic miner  dont have a capabilities to join.
