call me an optimist but with some blocks taking over an hour to solve and the profitability of mining in the toilet at the moment im hoping it will go down Cheesy
If nothing else the huge pools could agree to stop mining once we hit 2000 blocks and let the smaller pools find them, and when the difficulty changes, won't that have an affect on what the new difficulty is? Huh

Edit: I'll admit that I'm probably not thinking or speaking wisely on this subject. It does sound like I'm trying to beat the system here... Shame on me for even mentioning it; however, I'll still leave the comment here for discussion purposes.
