If you can afford to buy a new laptop so you should go ahead, but if not since you are in doubt with your laptop so better to format your laptop & install new windows on it. And there are many alternatives to Jaxx wallet, it depends on your coins/token which one you have. If you are holding Ethereum or any ERC-20 compatible token you can use MyEtherWallet or MetaMask. If you are holding Bitcoin you can use Electrum Desktop wallet. If you are holding NEO you can use NEO-GUI or Neon Desktop wallet. All coins I mentioned, for them you can also use Nano ledger as an alternate wallet.
