I have a MEW which shows tokens (through ethplorer) that I signed up for. Is there another source that tokens could be in?

Ethplorer would show any tokens sent to your wallet address. It's possible whatever token(s) you're waiting on haven't been sent yet. Sometimes airdrops / campaigns take several months to distribute tokens.
