As much as I support the idea, it is actually bad because well tend to encourage those users who just post nonesense and are not relevant at all. That is the purpose of merits, I believe and that is to filter those users who just post because it is require in the bounty programs that they belong to. So, lets just leave it to the people if they find a post worthy of merits.
