But I like how you use the term "market forces" to neatly de-humanize the future generations who will bear the brunt of the consequences of global warming.
And what happens if the owners of the coal plants or those you would like to charge the carbon tariffs to say 'No'?
"Market forces" refers to everybody, current generation included.
