I think non-repudiation and other technical side-effects of integrating this protocol with CA signed messages are secondary to the issue at hand.

It is clear that some users of this forum are uncomfortable with the implementation of any solution introducing "centralized" or "trusted" 3rd parties into the Satoshi client. Even though there exists the option to never use this feature, the precedent that's being set is worrisome.
