Lightning is very cool on Bitcoin. It would be awesome on Stellar 
Does Stellar really need Lightning? It is so very fast compared to Bitcoin or even Ethereum, around 3-5 sec for block.
Yes it's very fast but still limited in term of transactions per second (even if it's way better than Bitcoin). If it becomes very very successful, the hard limit might be reached.
