It is allowed per forum rules, but a large part of the community now frowns upon doing so. So unless you want your account tagged, it's best not to engage in buying/selling of accounts. People should heed your advice to rank up the normal way, instead of buying a custom-made bitcointalk account with as much merit as you can afford. This makes me nauseous.
Is it any surprise that OP here received his only merits thus far from an account seller? I think not.

yah, on my side. if I have full member or higher rank account. I wouldn't to sell it, because there is an effort inside when we build up these account.

That's right. Holding and improving of the account will open much more opportunities to the user than simply selling. I would not sold my Hero profile ever, after new Merit system, it is going to be too hard to go so far for everyone.

I doubt that the buyer will suggest any good money for that, couple tens of dollars, nothing more.
