Yes you paid in BTC, but it was priced in dollars.
Paying in dollars was not an option, and last year btc was priced in dollars, as it is today. So that has absolutely nothing to do with it.
We all paid for the whole thing in BTC only. Where you got that BTC to begin with is another story.

I don't recall the exact numbers, but let's say that assembly was $50, denominated in BTC at the time (let's say it was $100/BTC for the sake of argument) = 0.5 BTC
If we got that 0.5 BTC back, that's now worth ~$110 so we get back more in $ than we paid.
