It is impossible to make a profit manufacturing items of real quality in this environment.
Not true. Look at high end sports car manufacturers for example. It's arguable quality and bang-for-buck increases as technology improves.
Porsche is doing quite well, for a specific example.
Mind you, we're dealing with niche products here, but I take umbrage with your outlook. You can certainly buy extremely high quality products, although expect to pay premium prices.
Another example. Apple. They are making money hand-over-fist putting out quality hardware.
Part of the reason I retired early. I could not stand working for ((( them )))
I've never seen more hypocrisy or backwards thinking in my entire life before ((( they ))) came into my professional sphere.
((( They ))) are now requiring diversity quotas, and I've heard stories of qualified candidates being rejected for minorities/people of color, with subpar work ethics and technical skills.
Can you imagine being a manager in charge of hiring. Have a white male that checks every single one of your boxes for skills/requirements and has the resume to back it up, but are forced to hire a minority with substandard education and work ethics, straight out of school ?
This is what is happening in Silicon Valley / San Francisco right now.
