Yes. It will be interesting with other algo. If you can improve nist5, x17, c11, equihash, neoscrypt, etc - it will be nice. Even not only for 1080ti but for all green cards.
Improvement of nist5 would be useless, there is Baikal miner with 10GHs/s which is equivalent of 100+ Nvidias 1080Ti.
If there wasnt for x16r we would all be in a bigger trouble then now,every month there is new amd miner for some algo that it used to be good for nvidia first it was neoscrypt now lyra2 and there is already private amd miner for x17...Dont forget that now asics are coming for algos like skein and nist5
