"History doesn't repeat but it definitely rhymes"

When I first read this quote I though it was extremely revealing. We can fall into the trap of assuming history will repeat over and over. A few months ago we were told following Chinese new year the market would pick up and allot of peoples decisions were based on that assumption coming true. Now it turned out this didn't actually play much of a part in the price action so its important to understand the majority of events happen independently of one another. That being said history is a good indicator in some cases but basing your decisions on the past can sometimes blind you from what is right in front of you
