Absolutely correct! But the only way to get rid of fear, is to get rid of all the bad things that happen. Unfortunately, because people harm their fellow people using fists, knives, clubs, and medical lies way more than they do with guns, fear will never go away.

Someone with a gun doesn't have a better chance of survival. Granny with a gun probably has almost no chance just the same as when she has no gun if she is met with someone who wants to do her harm in a surprise ambush.
Do you want a good example of this? Look no further than American Sniper Chris Kyle. He and a friend are trained military vets with guns on their belts and had far more training than any of us can get. Both men were shot dead in a place where they both knew the killer would have access to a gun and has some PTSD issues. Neither even had a chance to draw their weapon with knowledge that it could be a dangerous situation.
