Yeah there is no point in minting POS for now as you will only be minting useless tokens and wasting gas. You can mint some few days before swap though to get more of the new token.
futhermore you couldn't swap new token
the snapshot was on 10/4/2018 so except if you have thousands and success to sell them, it's worthless to stake them
