If he'd been using bitcoin, he'd have been found sooner. Not to mention bitcoin transactions take technology, modern electronic communication and connectivity... all things he was forbidden to use and forbidding others around him to use. From a practical perspective, this terrorist funding angle is vulnerable to accusations of being a false premise, or worse yet, a theoretical fear floated to grab authority.
