There is a branch called "cn-heavy" at github, however no code commits. So I guess there is a plan.

what do you mean? everyone can calculate income based on his hashrate, network difficulty and price of the coin. Per 1k hash NBR returns only about 0.4$ USD per day. Coins, which already migrated to new protocol return around 2$
