Ok, so a while ago i spend 400 gold on Questing Balm to:
Quote
Improve your chances of winning big in Merlin's Gauntlet by eliminating the lowest paying door.
, then i went to Merlin's Gauntlet to try it out.

I still had 3 doors to choose from, despite refreshing the page few times, anyway it looks like randomisation takes place later as no matter which door i use they all lead to the same web address ".../door".

Did captchas, watched ads, got primary reward, did bonus round and ... hmm. In primary i got 5 satoshis & 6 gold in bonus 4 satoshis & 2 gold, Questing Balm is gone from Lab so allegedly it worked, but how?

Amount of sat & gold receieved with use of QB does not differ from minimal amounts that i was getting without it. I wasn't expecting heaps of sats & gold but what i got was in a range of minimal without QB, sth more than minimal without QB seems to be ~12-15 sats & ~9-12 gold in primary and ~6-8 sats & ~4-5 gold in bonus and higher winnings? Haven't won more than that so i can't tell but if it doubles (as it seems to) it's really not worth spending 400 gold on QB which works only 1 time if there's only 3 lvls of winnings. And as we have no info of possible winnings and number of lvls it's hard to even speculate but my question is: Does it work as intedned?

On Gauntlet page there was no info like: "You have QB so your next try will be more fruitful" or "You used QB and increased your chances of winning big" etc., and i couldn't see that indeed i won slightly more than before or at least that i didn't won minimal prize. QB just disappeared from Lab (yeah i checked before, it was there alright) and that's it.

Thanks for the feedback.  As the sole developer on the site often times you take for granted that some things "just make sense" when in fact they don't because you spend so much time buried in the code and logistics of things it becomes like second nature to you.

It was working as intended, but because of some tweaks that were made across different aspects along the way it doesn't seem to have been working all that effectively. That being said, I've made a few changes this morning to the gauntlet that should help clear things up a bit.

  • The gauntlet now displays the range of satoshi that can be won with each claim.  The range itself can fluctuate a little bit due to the current value of bitcoin, but it should give you a better idea of the overall range of what you can earn per claim.  I'm not going to go into detail on that page about the different levels and ranges that can occur with each claim because I don't want to overcomplicate it too much, but basically speaking there are two levels of ranges you can get, a high and a low, with a 1/3 shot of randomly getting a reward from the higher range versus the lower range.
  • When you have a Questing Balm in your inventory you'll now see it more clearly.  Two doors will clearly be eliminated and a message about the questing balm will be displayed on the screen directly below the doors.
  • I've changed how the questing balm works to make it more worthwhile.  Instead of increasing your chances of getting into the high-range as it did before, questing balms not automatically guarantee the highest amount of satoshi/gold when you claim from the gauntlet. So if the highest amount of satoshi awarded in the upper range is 12 satoshi (what it currently is right now) and you have a questing balm, that is what you'll get.

Here's a screenshot of the new changes:
