Also what does the length of time he has been a member of the forum have to do with his credibility? Yes there is a certain amount of credibility that members with a long record of using these forums inherit, but if legitimacy requires a certain number of posts or length of time on this forum, new bitcoin businesses are doomed to fail your test.
I would certainly hope you aren't suggesting that only forum members that have "Hero" status are the only ones that should be trusted.
I certainly admire the early adopters of bitcoin and those who have been in this community a long time. They have a tremendous amount of wisdom and experience to share with those of us new to the community. I just hope that they will encourage and help newcomers and new businesses rather than feel threatened or immediately be skeptical because they are new.
You need to trust the guy for some reason OR trust the person/org/business that rates his trustworthyness. I don't need to know the guy's shoe size. I need to know he is honest, competent and neutral. Name and location is at least something to go on, provided it can be independently verified. the relevant question is if he is trusted by someone or something that I trust.
