You're a reality TV man, huh? I used to enjoy Smackdown every once in a while back when I was in high school; maybe I'll check it out again! 
Nothing is scripted on Man v/s Wild. All other TV shows and movies are written stories by a person.
Best example is when Bear Grylls climbed a 200 feet tall bridge and then there was no way he could go to the top because of the construction design. Then Bear threw a 30 pound iron chain by his left hand on to the top and climbed up.
