PiedPiperCoin is based on MaidSafeCoin. They have had MaidSafe's COO (Nick Lambert) over there as adviser for this series. That's why they didn't sound like total idiots when talking crypto this week on the show. 
The real Piedpipercoin (MAID) has been around since 2014 and MaidSafe predates Bitcoin by several years (with crypto design and all). Even Sir Tim Berners-Lee was just talking about SAFE on twitter.
Hopefully SAFE Network will launch in 2018/19... it has been a long wait, but if anyone's going to do it it'll be them.
