I haven't personally seen people getting banned for that only for that. Mostly plagiarism and posting of potential malware is the reason.
Oh they do.mprep and hilariousandco keep temp banning people for spamming. Initial bans are like a warning but if they continue to do so, Global Admins have the provision to permaban them.
