I have latx coins at the old platform, but they have not transferred to the beta. The only coins showing in the beta are the few that I've earned testing some of the tasks. Do we need to manually transfer over coins to the beta platform, or will this happen automatically?

Yes, they should be transferred automatically. In my case it happened this way.
And from Alpha site there is now redirect to Beta.
May be you can check (i.e. if you use another browser, or may be you are not logged in..)
In case nothing helps - I would advise to contact support
