XRP definitely saw an extremely bullish alt-season in the past year.

I personally don't see XRP doubling this year, if we're talking about the all time high. Doubling the all time high is extremely hard to achieve, unless there is some news that make the XRP markets go into FOMO mode, which is unlikely in 2018 where the market is consolidating and attempting to recover.

When Ripple does get hyped up, its prices can increase exponentially extremely quickly. However, I simply don't see this happening this year, at least to last year's magnitude, since BTC's trend isn't clear yet, and definitely isn't overly bullish.
