Off course. But remember, when IOT with 5G grid will come, all devices will do this. Especially IOT botnets.
Maybe your laptop is mining for someone, but you don't know it. Today's traditional antivirus software's (that uses checksum) are useless, unless it uses endpoint protection.
SO nothing to worry about, everything is fine. If you have free electricity somewhere with idle tech, then why not.
