It's a great suggestion,  and not only for newbies, many more experienced members over-quoting posts. In past I also did same thing - I posted huge quotes despite that I only replied to last comment. I thought it's ok because I saw so many experienced members posting huge quotes. And only later I realised how it's annoying and not comfortable to read.
And small tip from me. When you're quoting post with image, delete tag and leave only link to image.
