What do you mean 0 luck after 3 days. I 'm mining some dust of primecoins with an old athlon. You should do fairly well with your xtreme hexacore!
I am totally new at this and I used the prime -qt wallet but I did not add a config file, do I need to add this?

You should join a pool and download a miner like jhprimeminer in order to mine. Go to ypool.net and check the how to section.
