If you look at CMC you can see that for example 3 crypto's use the same CAT ticker:

In few months people will know for which crypto XPC ticker is used.
The reason why XPChain was created is totally different as described above, but as always everyone has it's own opinion.
XPChain isn't designed to replace or destroy XP...it is designed to be a new project going in a new direction that shares a mutual community.
i find it weird that a completely different coin is piggybacking off another coins name when its not a fork. and its not to replace xp.
specifically when half the members used to be on the XP Team. surely not offering a swap and starting up a new coin would of been a better idea. im just calling it how i see it and from what i can see someone renamed XP's facebook page and changed their logo to this coin and deleted all the history.
not only that but the XP-JP Twitter was also changed and taken over. in my opinion its unprofessional to take work thats done for another coin. that should of been handed over to the team when the owner of it left. makes it seem more likly that XPC Hijacked their facebook page
using xpcoin as an airdrop makes me think this was invented to pump and dump xp or manipulate the market.
reading through comments on their facebook and your discord says otherwise. people are actually spreading more fudd about xp due to this startup

this all sounds rather rushed. from the sounds of it a few unrelated members were pissed because 1 user sent a broad insult.
i sent a message to someone to get some clarification and found it was the lead moderator who quit afterwards and he basically said out-loud that people need to pull their finger out of their butthole.
i have asked for screenshots which i will be sent later. will edit this post to include them for clarificaion

The Truth of Friction Against the Main Development Team
The admins of Japan has clashed with the main development team over where responsibility of falling price of XP lies. During wrangling a member in the main team allegedly hurled abuse by F-word. Plus the main team insisted they'd terminate Japan team's authority to operate the communities e.g. ＸＰ日本, and that they'd themselves directly administer them. In addition there was a time a negotiator from the main team suddenly disappeared off the radar. As the result the talks proved a challenge and practically resulted in a rupture between the two sides.
The Japan team has regarded the breakdown in negotiation as confidential affairs, and they has kept this from the holders in communities for more than a week. They seem to create a new altcoin, which is named XPC, in their bid for surroundings undisturbed by the main team of XP, and to airdrop tokens for the people having XP. I expect, in the future they're probably scattering the same amount of token as XP each holder has, partially because there are some people familiar with the matter recommending to bring together XP into one wallet. XP nearly doubled in price by the run after May 16, when that scheme was shared among the Japan team. A person concerned with ＸＰ日本 presumes this is mainly because some administrators or interested persons of Japan team have bought XP.
He also says, there's little anyone could do about the fact Japan team has a beef with the main team, but it makes no sense to completely hide that fact of breakdown from holders more than a week and to jump the gun at airdrop. I wonder if the new coin made by such people could get believed, even ICOs are called into question of credibility today.
These days XP continues dropping in value because of too high the rate of PoS; at the same time, there are still lots of the people owning them in hopes of rising.
There is another person saying, If Japan team launches a new token xp prices will surely be decreasing. Although recently the discord communities have been becoming desolate, I don't have any idea how I explain this to those'd trusted in community and bought XP. A morass of discord between Japan and main teams. And the issue of new token and the plan of airdrop.
