The algorithm is neoscrypt and is currently asic resitant, we belive that it is important to pursue the goal of having a decentralized mining market by trying to stay resistant to asic.
I fail to understand the purpose/need for this coin
It is a experimental blockchain project. Our main goal is to lower the bar for a wider mainstream adaptation in blockchain projects by adding community interaction and gamification elements which are build around the World of Mogwais. Beside that we maintain all valuable blockchain features like masternode, instantsend & privatsend.
Mogwai has a strong cultural meaning in asian culture and has a fictional background too. A lot of elements we picked up in Mogwaicoin have a link to such a background (ex. burning, feed ...).
There are events that can be triggered by miners that affect the blockchain behaviour (ex. blockreward). And then there is the World of Mogwai, which let's every interested MOG owner be part of it.
The interaction with the World of Mogwais generates as a side effect a deflationary incent, which is an interesting feature for a blockchain.
