I do not think they hate religion, just looking for the truth about all this. But I'm also not sure if their ancestors were not religious. Perhaps several generations of their ancestors who chose to get out of their religion for reasons that depict their God are not very strong. So as the longer and some more sciences are found the stronger their reason for becoming an atheist.

And as for your story, I judge that you may not be religious by looking for other truths. I often listen to the Youtube channel open discussion of a religious figure from India Dr. Zakir Naik. Perhaps you are also interested because many also discuss the religion of your parents (Hindu)
