CME Director of Index Development joins Olympus Labs as an Advisor
Payal Lakhani joins Olympus Labs as an advisor to further develop best practices for the cryptocurrency financial protocol
Olympus Labs, an emerging leader in the cryptocurrency financial product space, welcomes Payal Lakhani, Director of Index Development at CME Group, as a key advisor for the cryptocurrency index product launched earlier this month.
Other than the upcoming index product, Olympus plans to release cryptocurrency futures and other financial products in 2018. As such, Olympus will leverage Lakhanis 10+ years of financial experience in prestigious firms such as Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, MSCI, and the CME group to gain institutional recognition. She will bring her expertise to set templates for financial products that are suited for the cryptocurrency market, and meet industry best practices for product creation, such as industry best practices for index construction in the new product release.
I am excited to work with Olympus Labs to further professionalize the cryptocurrency asset class, especially as more investors start setting up cryptocurrency portfolios, said Lakhani, adding, Olympus is a fantastic team driving the development of a rich cryptocurrency financial ecosystem, and I am proud to support what will be an important step in the development of future financial asset classes and products.
As the Director of Index Development at the CME, Payal was heavily involved in constructing the methodology of the Bitcoin Reference Rate (BRR) and Bitcoin Real-Time Index (BRTI) that the CME currently uses for their Bitcoin Futures (BTC). Payals expertise in index and ETF creation will greatly boost the adoption and legitimacy of Olympus index products.
CME Group is the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, handling 3 billion contracts worth approximately $1 quadrillion annually, on average. The company provides a marketplace for buyers and sellers, bringing together individuals, companies and institutions that need to manage risk.
Its truly an honor to have Payal join our advisory board and to provide our team with her guidance and expertise in this emerging cryptocurrency market. Payal is super generous with her time, dedicating herself to weekly calls and even day-to-day operations. It is an understatement to say that having Payal on the team is a game changer for Olympus Labs. With her help, we are ready to take the world by storm, affirmed Kai Chen, CEO of Olympus Labs.
Olympus released their first index product on May 4, along with their mobile app release. Interested investors can download the mobile app to browse and purchase indices within several taps.
