Altcoin orderbooks are still thin, and my stop was triggered a couple of times on ragedumps, which are then absorbed by the market (like on ASTBTC, see screenshot).

One solution is to create an exchange where you can trade altcoin indexes instead of individual coins. Liquidity on indexes should be better, since indexes are like baskets of coins. Also, these markets should allow shorting (if implemented as perpetual swaps, like BitMEX XBTUSD).
